Mike Parish, Chief Executive, Care UK
Care UK is a leading provider of a range of Health and Social Care solutions, working in close partnership with Local Authorities, PCTs and NHS Trusts.
Social Care services include residential and community based care for older people and for adults and children with special needs, including mental health, learning disabilities and emotional & behavioural disorders. These services are provided through over 4,000 care home places along with community care provision in excess of 120,000 hours per week.
In Health Care, Care UK and its joint venture company Partnership Health Group (PHG) operate nine Independent Sector Treatment Centres (ISTC), providing elective surgery, diagnostics, general medical assessment and various treatment services. Care UK also operates several primary care practices, prison healthcare contracts, urgent care and walk in centres. Four further ISTC contracts are currently being negotiated.
Mike Parish was appointed Chief Executive of Care UK in 2001 following a successful career with Exel PLC, then a FTSE 100 supply chain solutions provider.
Mike joined Exel's forerunner, NFC (National Freight Consortium) as a graduate management trainee in 1982, just as it was being denationalised. During his career with Exel, Mike worked in a range of industry sectors and was responsible for activities across Europe, the Americas and Africa, culminating in a PLC director role.
Mr Julian Hartley, BA, MBA, Chief Executive, Blackpool Fylde and Wyre Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust
Julian Hartley became Chief Executive of the Trust in December 2005.
Previously, he was the Chief executive of Tameside and Glossop Primary Care Trust, a position which was held for three years.
He was educated at Durham and Cambridge Universities, and started his career as a NHS management trainee and spent most of his working life in hospitals across the North East.
Prior to becoming a Chief Executive he was the Director of Planning and operations at North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Trust.
Jo Pritchard and Tricia McGregor, Joint Managing Directors, Central Surrey Health
Tricia McGregor, Joint Managing Director, Central Surrey Health
Prior to setting up Central Surrey Health Tricia was employed as Director of Clinical Entrepreneur Development at East Elmbridge and Mid Surrey Primary Care Trust, a role that was created in August 2005 to develop proposals to establish Central Surrey Health. For the previous three years Tricia was the PCT's Director of Therapies and Speech and Language Therapy Manager. She represented therapies on the PCT board and the Professional Executive Committee. She has also previously held the position of Honorary Treasurer and Trustee at the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists.
Jo Pritchard, Joint Managing Director, Central Surrey Health
Jo Pritchard has held a variety of clinical and managerial posts in the NHS and abroad. Her nursing career spanned intensive care, cardiology, and health visiting followed by several years working with community nursing teams. She has since held roles in various health service organisations including the Department of Health, a mental health trust, a health authority and a Primary Care Trust. It was as Director of Nursing and Primary Care at East Elmbridge and Mid Surrey PCT that Jo with her colleague Tricia McGregor led the development of the social enterprise model for nursing and therapies that became Central Surrey Heath.
Dr John Ribchester, Whitstable Medical Practice
John Ribchester is a GP Principal and also Practice Based Commissioning Lead for the Whitstable Medical Practice. This is a partnership of 17 general Practitioners, serving 32,450 patients in and around the coastal town of Whitstable in Kent.
John was Medical Manager of the Multifund for the Coast and Canterbury for four years, up until the demise of fundholding. This was a fundholding organization for 67 General Practitioners. Following that, he was Primary Care Group Chairman for three years and PCT PEC Co-Chair for a further four years. He is also a GPSI in Surgery, working for the East Kent Surgery in Primary Care Scheme. He spent four years as a GP Adviser to the Department of Health. When Eastern and Coastal Kent PCT was formed he was on the Interim PEC, with responsibility for Practice Based Commissioning. John is currently joint PBC lead for S.E. NHS Alliance and joint Clinical Lead for C4, Canterbury and Coastal Commissioning Consortium.
He is particularly interested in service redesign and the provision of what were traditionally outpatient appointments and day procedures within a primary care setting.
